About me
I was born and raised in Lisbon, Portugal and moved to the UK March 2007 in pursuit of new career opportunities.
Since then, I have performed a variety of roles within the Hospitality industry until I joined my first start-up in 2015, where I started my career in Finance.
In 2017, I became part of the early team at Resi Design and spent the following 4 years helping grow the company to over 100 employees.
With Covid-19 introducing a "new normal" I decided to do the same and start a new adventure... And JSVN was born!
The mission
Striving for better
Unfortunately, the Accounting industry has gone through a serious undervalue in the last couple of decades and yet, it is still seen as an unaffordable luxury.
This undervalue was due to, amongst other reasons, a quick rise in competition and a full diminishing of the importance (and value) of financial advise. The "accountant" image that came with that is one of boredom, disinterest and sometimes fear.
I'm not here to be "just an accountant", I'm here to stand by your side and help you make informed decisions to better your life, be it professional or personal.
Self-employment
Having your own business doesn't mean you have to form a company! In fact, at the start of 2020, Sole traders made up 59% of the private sector with an incredible 3.5 million business owners!
My goal is to empower business owners, both established and new ones, to efficiently manage their own finances and understand their business' accounts thus allowing for better decisions.
I provide training and knowledge support, individually tailored to your needs and work with you in developing your visions!
Start-up / Small business
If self-employment isn't the right path or you simply rather be financially separated from your business, then a limited company might be the way forward!
Running your own company is not much different than being self-employed. The biggest different is the tax position of the business. As a limited company, it stands as its own legal entity and therefor has to adhere to specific accounting legislations and regulations.
Being properly set up right from the get go will give you the best chance of succeeding and that's what I'm here for!
The Age of Technology
2020's silver lining is the fascinating and extreme development of technology! We can now do pretty much anything from the comfort of our sofas...including accounting!
Spreadsheets are a thing of the past and even HMRC is catching up with the digital wave and moving their tax services online, with all returns being submitted via accounting softwares by 2023.
As a Xero Bronze partner I have the knowledge and experience to help software migrations/set ups, provide basic training and much more.
